We Celebrated.
How is it that as her birthday approaches, my little girl seems to grow right before my eyes? It's not just that she looks so much more like a "little girl" now, but the things she says and does seem so grown up lately. I just want to squeeze her all day, so I don't forget the way she is right now, still a two-year-old, until Friday.
Yesterday, we celebrated. 14 children (along with their parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents) joined us in wishing Gracie a Happy Birthday. As her mother, nothing makes me happier than seeing her happy and surrounded by so many people who love her.
I was wise to hold her party at the gym. It was a super-hot afternoon, and I can't even imagine what it would have been like to have this group, no matter how awesome these people are, partying in my living room! Our party helpers were wonderful and took all the pressure off of me, leaving me with the job of watching my sweet girl have a blast.
There were games with a parachute and lots of free play, which everyone enjoyed.
There were little ones jumping on trampolines and balancing on the balance beam. There were plenty of smiles and fun with friends and cousins!
There was even a brief awards ceremony (complete with medals, of course!) before we moved on to cake and presents.
Gracie was asked to come up on her own and receive an extra special "birthday girl" medal. She was up and down from those mats quickly.
Finally, there was cake. We let Gracie choose what she wanted on her cake this year and she chose this pretty pink and purple dinosaur.
It was a special day. I'm so thankful for my baby girl. I still can't believe she's almost three...
Oh, I love that place! We've been there for two birthday parties this spring, and I love how they organize the events so the parents can actually enjoy the day! Looks like everyone had a blast; congrats to your big 3 year old!
