Random.

Ethan's 9 month appointment was this morning. He looked absolutely pitiful, you would have thought we were there for a sick visit. In the 30 minutes before we left the house, he fell and bumped his head twice on the hardwood floor. Add in his snotty nose, one red eye (a result of his relentless crying during a failed attempt at nap time yesterday), and the fact that it was his morning nap time... Yeah, he was looking pretty rough. The good news, however, is that we have a perfectly healthy, happy baby boy. It is a blessing I do not take for granted. He's growing, which we can easily tell. 17 pounds (10th percentile) and 30 inches (95th percentile) long. I always go back and look at Gracie's weight and height at his age, and at both the 6 month and 9 month appointments, they have been the exact same length. I didn't expect any shots today, but I had forgotten he would need the second part of his flu vaccine. Funny thing is, he was so mad about being laid back and held down that he didn't even seem to notice when he actually got the shot. He was over it quickly, thank goodness. This week has been exhausting.

Gracie has been sick, but is thankfully feeling all better now. She's very excited because tonight is observation night at dance. The parents will be able to step into the dance room and watch the girls do a short performance. We will also get to see her recital costumes for the first time! This is a big deal for little ballerinas and their mommas!

Sean and I went out yesterday evening while my mom and Johnny watched the kids. It was SO nice to get out of the house, hold hands with my husband, and enjoy adult conversation over a delicious meal. I needed a break, big time, and I'm so glad we chose a random week night to go on a date! It was so much fun that we're going on another date Friday night... to watch The Hunger Games! I read the trilogy about a month ago, before I even realized a movie was coming out. I loved them and have been so excited about the movies (and hoping they can do the books justice!). Shockingly, Sean started reading the first book, then finished them all within a 4 day window. I didn't even know he knew how to read books! ;) The fact that I can discuss the books with him, and now see the movie with him, is really neat. I can't wait!

  1. I'm sorry you have had such a rough couple weeks with sick kids, a sick you, lots of crying and lack of sleep. That's so wonderful your Mom kept the kiddos so you and Sean got to have a date night. And not one, but TWO, in a week? Wow! Have fun tonight! I haven't read the books, seen the movie, or know anything about The Hunger Games. But I know a ton of people are obsessed with it! I hope you have a great time tonight!
