Glimpses of a Summer.

So many of the images I capture these days are iPhone pictures. Most of the time I do share them with the social media world via Instagram or Facebook, but I wanted to pull some of my favorites together for this post. It's been a memorable summer, with a few weeks left to go, thankfully. I'm not quite ready for this particular summer to come to an end. It was during these June and July days that my baby boy turned two years old, we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary, and my daughter enjoyed some of her last pre-kindergarten days with her mommy. Lots of beautiful, bittersweet things happening in my life right now.

We've celebrated birthdays and babies, enjoyed the company of friends and their children, eaten frozen yogurt until we're practically sick of it...

For me personally, it's been a summer of stretching and challenging myself physically (seriously, I thought I hated running). I also made the decision to step away from some of life's social distractions, which has allowed me time to genuinely focus on my spiritual growth. During this 40 Days of Prayer, I've learned that there are times when a prayer is all we have, even when we don't have the words, just a desperate heart. Real time spent in conversation with God is a gift to be enjoyed and taken advantage of.

Anyway, here are a few summer moments that bring me so much happiness. These are not in any particular order, but include pool days and evenings, our Williamsburg trip, outings with friends, Barnes and Noble mornings, the 4th of July, and other bits of life that I likely would have missed had I not had this handy camera phone! Here's to the summer of 2013 and the little moments yet to come!

Sean and I enjoyed a weekend get-away (we were only 15 minutes away for 3 nights, but we could have cared less where we went!) and celebrated 7 years of marriage. Ups, downs, highs, and lows, we've got 'em all and I'm so very thankful for each year spent with this man.

Somebody loves Toy Story... so naturally, he loooves his Buzz and Woody pajamas! I just love that sweet smile in the morning!

The Kernersville 4th of July Parade was perfect for this boy. He loves anything with wheels!

  1. I have really become addicted to Instagram for this same reason, the iPhone photos, make me able to capture a lot more of those special moments.

I couldn't agree more with you about your comments on spending time with God.

So much summer fun! You've got me thinking we need to make some frozen yogurt trips while there's still time, we haven't done much of that this summer at all :-(
