Catching Up.
Gracie came home on Sunday. We were so excited to have her back after a whole week away! We enjoyed hearing her tell us all about "Memaw Camp" and the fun things they did while there. She talked on and on about a butterfly exhibit they visited, as well as her first roller coaster ride at Busch Gardens! She had bags full of prizes and crafts to share, too. Among the many crafts she made was a mug she decorated and an adorable butterfly magnet she painted. They even personalized tote bags, which will come in handy for preschool!

It's obvious that Gracie had a wonderful week and I appreciate all the time and love Sean's mom put into this event for my daughter and her cousins. I am sure each girl is already looking forward to next year!

Monday night, Sean came home from work, we ate a quick dinner, then headed to our church for Gracie's first ever Open House! It was honestly hard for me to believe that I was standing in what will be Gracie's first preschool classroom, listening to her first teacher talk to the parents about the upcoming "school year". Sean and I will attend a "short visit" with Gracie on Monday, which will give the students (only a few at a time for 20 minute visits) a chance to explore the classroom and see the teacher and assistant again. Her first official day will be next Wednesday. She'll go Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8-12. I am so excited about all that my baby girl will learn and experience during this time. The theme for August will be "Just Hangin' Out with Jesus". The classroom door was decorated with monkeys just hangin' around in a tree. :)

On Tuesday, my little guy turned two months old! It's amazing to me how quickly these weeks have passed, I know I say this all the time, but it's so true. He is still such a sweet baby, and so happy! He smiles all the time now and even giggles a little from time to time. He's also become quite the talker. I enjoy sitting with him and "chatting", he has so much to say! I love watching those little lips as he coos and grins.

-You dislike tummy time. I try to place you on your tummy randomly throughout the day, but you don't usually last long before you begin to get fussy! I imagine you will begin to push yourself onto your back within the next month or so, just like your sister did.
-You love to eat. This works well because I love to feed you! I'm still feeling so lucky to have breastfeeding going well. With Gracie, I never would have been able to leave the house for the park or get together with girlfriends without struggling to breastfeed awkwardly in the car. I am gaining confidence with each week and feeling more comfortable just feeding you when you need to be fed, without leaving a conversation or dragging Gracie along to sit in the car. I know you won't really care to know this when you are grown, but it is an aspect of motherhood that I am truly enjoying with you.
-You still do not sleep through the night. Some nights are better than others, and the "good" ones always seem to come right when I need them the most, but the majority of my nights are spent getting up for feedings and diaper changes every 2-3 hours. You typically have one 4-5 hour stretch when we first lay you down, but after that, you're up frequently. I'm hoping you (and I) will be able to get more solid rest soon!
-We have enjoyed every minute of the past two months. You've settled right in and added so much happiness to our family.

Today was Ethan's two month check-up. He is now weighing in at 11 pounds, 8 ounces and is 23 1/4 inches long. He had to get his first round of shots today. It was so sad seeing him so upset, but nursing him right after seemed to help, as did the dose of Tylenol we gave him before the shots.
Ethan, here is more about you at two months old:

-You are doing well holding up your head and using your neck control. You enjoy being held so that you can look all around.
-You dislike tummy time. I try to place you on your tummy randomly throughout the day, but you don't usually last long before you begin to get fussy! I imagine you will begin to push yourself onto your back within the next month or so, just like your sister did.

I love the photo on the beach! I am glad Gracie had a good time! Ethan is such a handsome guy! And I'm glad breastfeeding is going smoother this time too. It's one of my very favorite things about Caleb's first year and I hope that it goes smoothly the second go-round for me too.
ReplyDeleteI want to go to "Memaw camp"! It sounds like so much fun! I love the closeup photo of Ethan. I'm glad he's doing well post shots and hope that remained the case the rest of today! And I am so happy that breastfeeding continues to go so much better for you this time around! Can't wait to hold little man in my arms again soon.
