Short Visit.

This morning, we woke up with a mission: Get to Gracie's preschool on time... The mornings can be tough sometimes when you have a toddler that prefers to wake up slowly (and doesn't appreciate being pushed along), a baby to nurse, breakfast to fix, children to dress, teeth to brush, shoes to track down... and somewhere along the way, two adults have to get showers and get ready, too. We managed okay, pulling out of the driveway only 3 minutes later than planned.

We arrived at church right on time, ready and excited to join Gracie for her "short visit". Her teacher greeted us at the classroom door, then sent Sean and I on a journey with Gracie around the room. We stopped by each learning center and explained to her what she will likely be doing there. After that, the teacher asked Gracie to paint two monkey parts (they will be completing the monkey this coming week) with a toothbrush (of all that we've painted with at home, I've never thought to use an old toothbrush!). Gracie was very particular about how her monkey was painted. She would not let me help her and insisted that every last inch was covered with paint. :) She ended up with black paint on her shirt, white paint on her shorts, black paint in her hair, and white and black paint on me. It was a lot of fun, though, and a nice way to help Gracie get comfortable in the classroom.

We were there for about 20 minutes. Gracie was a little shy and clingy when her teacher asked her questions, but I think she will warm up quickly to both her teacher and the assistant. This is a new adventure for all of us and we are so excited about it! I'm looking forward to watching Gracie grow as she experiences and learns new things with new friends. I'm also looking forward to the opportunity to get involved with Gracie's class and help out from time to time when needed.

Wednesday is her big day. I think she will do great when we drop her off... but I'm curious to see how her momma reacts when she watches her baby girl walk in that classroom for the first time, wearing her school clothes, carrying her little tote bag, looking much too grown up...

  1. I'm glad she did so well in her intro class!

I'll be thinking about you a lot tomorrow morning! I am sure it will be a bittersweet moment. Praying you don't cry too much!
