My Daughter the Dancer.

Within the last year or so, Gracie has really fallen in love with dancing. She loves nothing more than to leap throughout the house in her tutus, stopping to perform some pretty impressive moves, ranging from tip toe ballet steps to some serious hip hop inspired jumps, spins, and wiggles. It's always so fun to watch her express herself through dance. Between what she's seen while watching Angelina Ballerina and The Backyardigans (her two favorite shows), she can put together an entertaining show.

Yesterday was a special day for her, and for me. She went to her very first dance class...

On Wednesday, she and I went on a Mommy/Gracie date to have her fitted for her tap and ballet shoes. Just being in the studio store was enough to get her moving. She broke out into her own creative ballet dance, providing entertainment to the other customers, while I paid. As soon as we arrived home, she was begging me to let her try on her new shoes. I let her try on her whole dance outfit and watched as she twirled around the room, certain that we had made the right decision in getting her in the class.

Yesterday, Gracie was SO excited! She kept asking me throughout the morning when we would go to dance class. When the time finally came, she didn't hesitate to kiss us good-bye and follow the teacher. She's taking a combo class, which consists of 20 minutes of tap, 20 minutes of tumble, and 20 minutes of ballet. We were able to watch her tumble class through an observation window overlooking the room. It was hilarious. These little 3 and 4 year old girls are so cute! She had a fantastic time and cannot wait to go back next week!

And just because... :)

Happy Weekend.

  1. Adorable! I'm so glad that Gracie gets to be in dance class, she's seemed like a dancer from a very young age. Love her bag, where'd you find that (not that my son will want one...).

    I'm very excited for tomorrow!

  2. Sounds like our girls are taking classes at the same studio :) And wouldn't you know it, G wore the EXACT SAME outfit to her first class earlier in the week!
