Sick.
November is one of my favorite months. I associate this fall month with crisp, cool temperatures, warm, frothy drinks, piles of leaves for jumping, fall decorating, and giving thanks with family and friends. I also turn a year older every time November rolls around, so it's always been pretty special.
So far, however, November and I are not on the best terms... On its very first day, my daughter showed signs of sickness. For 7 whole days she's struggled with a cough, fever, sneezing. She was unable to rest well at night, took one nap the whole week (how this is possible while taking Motrin I don't know), and even had to miss a day of preschool and dance class. Mid-week, I started feeling the sickness creeping in, but as all mothers know, it doesn't matter, I keep moving anyway. Sean started feeling badly over the weekend, a beautiful weekend that we missed altogether because no one really felt like changing out of pajamas. All this time, my tiny sweetie stayed strong. He stayed healthy, sniffle-free, cough-free, and while he still doesn't sleep through the night, he slept well.
Gracie and Sean started feeling better on Sunday (I'm too exhausted to know if I feel better or not) and I felt hopeful... until I heard Ethan's first cough. And so the process began all over again yesterday... doctor's office, screaming, snotty baby who struggles to eat or sleep, fever late last night, more coughing... steam showers, Tylenol, another sleepless night...
Alright, November. My birthday is on Friday and I am absolutely wishing for one thing and one thing only... a house free of this sickness! I hate seeing my babies so uncomfortable. I just want us all to be well again.

Oh no! I was hoping Ethan was feeling better :( And I was thinking about your birthday and hoping your whole family would be better by then to help you celebrate.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you are soooo right about a mom's job when there is sickness in the house. The rest of our family may be sick in bed, but we never stop running, organizing, healing, do we? I hope you get better and get a break on your birthday!
I'm so sorry....I hope everyone can get better, and stay better, very soon!
