Sick. Again.

My sweet Grace is sick...again. I feel like she never really got over her first cold, and here we are again! Her preschool teacher sent an email out to parents earlier this week, warning us that 5 students were out sick on Monday. Having Gracie join this sick group makes me wonder how many students were out on Wednesday... She's had a really high fever, cough, and runny nose. She has been miserable. I feel so bad for her and there's nothing I can really do to make it better...

We were supposed to go to a Christmas concert and dinner tomorrow night with my dad and family, but those plans have been put on hold since our family will not be able to join them. I hope we can get this sickness out of the way in time to enjoy all of the other Christmas plans we have in the coming weeks!

Since I haven't been taking pictures this week, I wanted to add a couple from Thanksgiving that I never got around to sharing.

 

Gracie and Granny are like two peas in a pod. Gracie can sometimes take time to warm back up to people she hasn't seen in a while, but not her Granny. There is something special between them, something I can completely understand, since I am also Granny's girl. :)


A full belly (we fed him sweet potatoes for the first time!), football, and a nap in Daddy's arms? Perfect for a first Thanksgiving for our boy. This was such a wonderful day.

    These pictures are so beautiful. I hope Gracie is feeling better soon. Sick kids are pitiful and hard on a Mama! Tell her I have more boxtops for her next time I see her!

    I hope Gracie gets feeling better soon! I would hate for her to be feeling miserable come Christmas time. Hopefully you all are getting some good sleep and lots of rest. Let me know if I can help out somehow!

The end is near.

My husband is confident. He's determined, speaks his mind, and lives for a challenge. If you tell him something cannot be done, be prepared to be proven wrong. I rarely see him get nervous, for any reason... almost. My 38-week appointment was this morning. As usual, Sean and Gracie were with me, which I love. I was anxious to get to this appointment because I started having uncomfortable cramping yesterday evening, which then lasted through the night and even into the morning. I've experienced a few other "preliminary signs" of labor which have led me to believe that we're coming up on the end here. After talking with the doctor, he offered to check my progress and strip my membranes. This is when I got a little tickled, even as I was sitting on an exam table naked from the waist down, with nothing but a paper sheet wrapped around me. Hilton Head.

I was feeling heavy. Overwhelmed. Tired. The combination of sick children, sleep deprivation, and very little "me" time was starting to push me down a bit. I don't like feeling that way. I want to wake up with a smile on my face. I want to feel motivated and light . Our Hilton Head vacation arrived at the perfect time. Packing was a nightmare, but once our car hit the highway, I felt it... Freedom . It didn't matter that I was taking a sick child along, or that I was still going to be sleep deprived. Those things are easier to handle when you get a change in scenery, especially when that scenery becomes blue skies and an endless ocean. As we do each year in January, we joined Sean's dad and step-mom for a winter get-away. The weather was kind to us this year. Gracie loves the beach.
