Weekend.

Great weekend. We had very little planned for it, which is something that I need occasionally. This was the last of those for a while...although the upcoming December weekends are going to be FULL of people we love and things we can't wait to do!

On Sunday, Gracie and I rode along in the local Christmas parade with many other tiny dancers and their mommas. We were stuffed into the back of a pick-up truck and, waving hands ready, shouted out Merry Christmas to the hundreds of people who lined the streets. Gracie's wave became most enthusiastic upon seeing many small dogs dressed in sweaters, or babies that reminded us of Ethan. The most exciting moment of all was when we actually spotted our baby in the crowd. Sean had a big smile on his face, it was sweet. He looked proud to know us. Ha! As we neared the end of the parade, we spotted Nana and Grandpa. Gracie was so sleepy by this point, but she shouted out Merry Christmas to them, too. It was fun seeing familiar faces in the crowd!

Sean later told me that our dance company easily had the most participants. He knew we were coming when he saw the huge cloud of pink and blue balloons headed his way. Most of us were dressed in pink, too, so we were easy to spot! He said there were probably 8 trucks with kids in them. The bigger girls lead the way with a dance. We couldn't see them from where we were in the line up, but I heard they all did such a great job. I told Gracie she would be dancing in the streets one day!

I didn't take my camera, but one of the other mothers emailed this picture to me. We met an hour and a half before the parade actually began, so we had lots of time for talking, a game of I Spy, and a snack. Each girl ended up with a balloon tied to her wrist, not to mention the ones tied to the front and back of each truck! I imagine we were quite a sight! I really enjoyed riding along with my girl.

Since we were in the first part of the parade, there was still plenty for Gracie to see once we made it back to where Sean and Ethan were waiting. I ended up in the car with a hungry, sleepy baby, but Gracie and Sean watched the remainder of the parade and came back to the car with pockets full of candy. It was such a fun afternoon!

  1. How neat that Gracie got to participate in the parade! I bet she felt like such a little star :-) Hopefully I can wave at her next year!

  3. I'm hoping DH is off for the parade next year so I can ride with Gigi! And yes, ED&T was definitely the best represented group in the parade!!!
