7 months.

My baby boy turns 7 months old today! I am loving this age with him. He is curious and interested in everything around him. He loves getting his hands onto something new, and then shoves it straight in his mouth. We love watching as his little personality comes to life.

Ethan, here is more about you at 7 months!

-You are sitting up well now, but topple over often as you try to grab things just out of reach. You seem to enjoy sitting up, though. I can actually sit you down (with the Boppy around you in case you fall over) and get things finished around the house.

-You still like to keep Mommy awake at night. I would guess that teething is partly to blame at this point, but you are waking every 3 hours or so to nurse. As tired as I am most mornings, I'm trying to enjoy these late night moments with you. I remember missing them once Gracie started sleeping 10-12 hours straight.

-You are loud! I am surprised at how much volume your baby voice has. It's hilarious to listen to you "talk" or squeal while playing. I think you like hearing yourself!

-You are a great eater. Peas are not a favorite, but you happily eat everything else I offer you. Sweet potatoes and bananas are two foods that you seem to love!

-I can see your first tooth, and it is giving you a hard time. It's right there, so I'm sure it will pop on through any day now... You've been very uncomfortable and fussier than usual the past couple of weeks.

Taken this morning. He's pitiful!

Last night you were obviously running a low grade fever. I have been giving you Tylenol and teething gel to help give you some relief. You haven't been yourself on this 7 month birthday, but despite not feeling well, you are still a sweet, (mostly) happy little guy.


We love you so very much!

    7 months, really? I'm not ready (we still have another day)It sounds like Ky and Ethan are doing the same things.

    That little face, poor guy! There's nothing worse than teething AND croup all at once, is there - for him AND for you! And I'm with you on the "baby talking" - I absolutely adore hearing C's voice and little shouts of delight. That reminds me, I wanted to record them for "posterity." Do you find you capture Ethan on camera far less than you did Gracie? That's a big issue I've found at our house!

    Poor guy! I hope he is feeling better soon. I can't believe he is already SEVEN months old! It just isn't fair how fast time flies with little ones! Oh-and cute pjs! I recognize them. ;-)

    Oh I hope that tooth pops through soon! Felicity was miserable when she was teething. Our babies are growing up way too fast!

The end is near.

My husband is confident. He's determined, speaks his mind, and lives for a challenge. If you tell him something cannot be done, be prepared to be proven wrong. I rarely see him get nervous, for any reason... almost. My 38-week appointment was this morning. As usual, Sean and Gracie were with me, which I love. I was anxious to get to this appointment because I started having uncomfortable cramping yesterday evening, which then lasted through the night and even into the morning. I've experienced a few other "preliminary signs" of labor which have led me to believe that we're coming up on the end here. After talking with the doctor, he offered to check my progress and strip my membranes. This is when I got a little tickled, even as I was sitting on an exam table naked from the waist down, with nothing but a paper sheet wrapped around me. Hilton Head.

I was feeling heavy. Overwhelmed. Tired. The combination of sick children, sleep deprivation, and very little "me" time was starting to push me down a bit. I don't like feeling that way. I want to wake up with a smile on my face. I want to feel motivated and light . Our Hilton Head vacation arrived at the perfect time. Packing was a nightmare, but once our car hit the highway, I felt it... Freedom . It didn't matter that I was taking a sick child along, or that I was still going to be sleep deprived. Those things are easier to handle when you get a change in scenery, especially when that scenery becomes blue skies and an endless ocean. As we do each year in January, we joined Sean's dad and step-mom for a winter get-away. The weather was kind to us this year. Gracie loves the beach.
