Mother's Day.
This has been a truly lovely weekend, and one I've been looking forward to for a while now. I am extremely grateful to be a mother, to have a mother and grandmothers still with me on Earth, and to get the opportunity to watch my little sister experience the beauty that is motherhood. I also like any excuse to celebrate, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy a little extra attention and spoiling every now and then. Sean and the kids did a wonderful job of making sure I felt appreciated this weekend, and I in turn really appreciated that. Gracie and Sean surprised me with a dozen roses on Friday afternoon, I was able to squeeze in a little "me" time when I had my hair cut Saturday, and we wrapped it all up this afternoon with a picnic at the park. Here are a few pictures from my phone from the weekend. One of these days I'll get around to adding some of the ones I've taken with my real camera!
Ethan is so darn sweet! This was my first Mother's Day with him and I thoroughly enjoyed having both of my babies to celebrate with. His very first tooth also popped through today!!!
We stopped by the store this morning to grab a few things for dinner and the picnic. Ethan and Gracie love driving the shopping cart. Thank goodness they thought to add two steering wheels. :)
My baby sister and I this afternoon... It's so fun sharing in this mommy journey with her. Happy Mother's Day to all of the amazing mothers in my life, especially my own! I'm so blessed to have so many strong, beautiful women around me who are willing to listen, encourage, advise, and most importantly, love as I try each day to be the kind of mother my children deserve.
I am also very aware that there are many, many women who hurt today. These women are in my thoughts and prayers.
