18 months.

How is it possible that my baby is now a year and a half old! He's such an amazing little boy and an adorable blessing in our lives. I've especially enjoyed listening to his precious voice as his vocabulary increases. While "Mama" is still the sweetest word in the world, I also LOVE hearing him say other words, including "Gaff" (giraffe) and "Ish" (fish). He seems to say something new every day. I also love how he tries to mimic things Gracie says. She's been a great teacher over the past 18 months!

In addition to a developing vocabulary, my little man is also exhibiting a developing temper. He is extremely easy going and pleasant when he's happy and things are going his way. When things aren't going his way, he morphs into a tiny ball of anger and does not hold back! I typically let him have his moment, then the whole tantrum seems to end as quickly as it began. He's pretty hilarious, even when he has those fists balled up in frustration.

That being said, Ethan really is a good listener. He's started doing little things to help me out during the day, like taking things to Gracie or picking up his toys.

Ethan, you have been enjoying your weekly Kindermusik class. Your favorite instrument by far is a drum. You've started requesting the drums at the beginning of class each week, way before they actually make an appearance. I have so much fun with you during class. You keep me entertained. It's one of the highlights of my week.

You're currently teething molars. I can't imagine how uncomfortable this process is for you. Two have finally made their way through your gums. We had a couple of weeks where I could tell your mouth was just hurting. You weren't sleeping well without Tylenol, either. I'll be relieved when all of those pearly whites are here!

Here is a list of some of your favorite things at 18 months:

Food: You will eat almost anything I offer you, but you really love any type of fruit (banana, blueberries, pears and peaches). You will not eat scrambled eggs, but you like pancakes and small bites of turkey bacon. You also enjoy peas and zucchini.

Toys: You still love any type of ball and your riding toys. You've also become an expert builder and spend lots of time building with your blocks. This is a happy activity, as long as your towers stay standing...

TV Shows/Movies: You don't sit still for long, but if I do happen to catch you watching a television show, it's usually one on Disney Jr., like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. You enjoy when we watch a Veggie Tales movie because there are lots of opportunities to dance!

Books: You're a busy little guy most of the time, but you actually do love sitting in my lap to hear a story. Your favorite books right now are The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Giraffes Can't Dance. You also enjoy Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and run to me with the book saying "boom, boom!".

Happy 18 Months, my little man. Watching you grow has brought your daddy and I so much happiness!
