Easter Break 2023.
The weekend has been wet and chilly, definitely not the best weather for egg hunts and Easter dresses. Despite the shift in weather, we've had a wonderful long weekend celebrating our Risen Savior.
On Friday, Ashley and I took Mom out for brunch to celebrate her birthday. It was, as always, wonderful to have a cup of coffee, catch up on life, and laugh together. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to celebrate my mom's beautiful life. She is a true light in this world.
Friday evening, we attended the Good Friday service at church. It was a great time of worship and reflection. It's easy to focus on the fun of Easter and forget the enormity of Christ's sacrifice and what His death and resurrection mean for us as Christians. This service helped us focus in on the true meaning of Easter and why it matters so very much.
On Saturday, we enjoyed a lazy morning complete with cinnamon rolls and Survivor. We have gone back in time, almost a decade, to watch the older seasons of Survivor with the kids. We love plopping down on the sectional and watching these episodes together as a family. Saturday afternoon we hit the road for Salem, VA to show our support for Will. He recently accepted a new position as the Director of Field Operations for the Salem Red Sox. He takes so much pride in his work, and it shows. His field looks amazing. We are so proud of his success, in both his career and family life. We had the best time with Amy and the kids. I adore being an aunt to these precious babies.
Easter Sunday was all about Jesus! We attended church and enjoyed Easter lunch with Ashley and her family, Nana and Grandpa Johnny. It was an afternoon of delicious food and fun with our family, the very best way to spend such a special day of celebration. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to Jesus for His love and sacrifice. Because He lives, we have hope. Because He lives, we can rest in knowing we have a Savior who loves us and who died to set us free!
