2 Weeks Old.
Ethan, it's hard to believe you're already 14 days old! Your two-week checkup was this afternoon. You are doing so well and have grown so much already! You are now 8 pounds, 8 ounces and 22 inches long. I was honestly surprised to see that you have gained a pound since birth. Your doctor was pleased with your weight gain and says you're doing great!
Here is a little more about you at two weeks old:
-You are eating at least every two hours, sometimes even more frequently than that!
-Your umbilical cord stump finally fell off yesterday. It's nice to see a little belly button! We gave you your first bath last night. Gracie kept you warm by pouring warm water over you during the bath. You didn't cry during the bath, but you started crying as we were drying you off and wrapping you in your towel.
-You can lift and turn your head while laying on your tummy. Your sister lays with you during these few minutes of "tummy time", giving you encouragement and praise.
-You still rarely cry. You give us all of the non-screaming cues we need first, then if we haven't responded to your needs, you will cry (and it's pitiful).
-You have really started making eye contact while we are holding you. You will also turn your head in response to our voices. It is so nice to see you looking at me and I enjoy having little chats with you about how lovely life is.
-Your sister adores you. She is constantly getting close to your face to talk to you. She calls you "handsome boy" and "Punkin-Doodle". I call you "handsome" (because you are!), but I'm not sure where she picked up Punkin-Doodle!
-You love to be held, specifically cuddled against someone's chest. If you're fighting sleep, gently bouncing you, or walking with you, against my chest will put you into a more restful sleep.
-You have times throughout the day where you are very awake and alert. These also seem to be the times when you love to do what I'll call "cluster feed" and eat every hour.
-We are in love with everything about you! You have two adoring parents and one awesome (and protective) big sister. It's been such a fast, but wonderful, two weeks with you. We're feeling so blessed!
Your sister loves you so much! She rarely lets me take pictures of her, but she actually asks me to take pictures of you two (and smiles!).

Awww, he is soo precious! He already looks different. Tell him to just stop it! I've had enough of these babies getting bigger! ;)
ReplyDeleteGracie is so sweet. I knew she'd be a great big sister. I am glad everything is going smoothly. And YAY on the weight gain! Good job Mama! Our pediatrician always made me so proud on those early weigh-ins. Be proud! Love you!
