First Pool Day.

One of the neat parts of our beach trip was that Gracie turned 4 years old on our first real day there. We started our morning with hugs, kisses, and a few gifts for our birthday girl, then headed out to enjoy the pool.


Gracie loves to swim, especially with her daddy, so no problem there. Ethan, on the other hand, was not thrilled with the cold water, so it took him some time to adjust. He liked being in his float best and enjoyed splashing the water. Still, he was less enthusiastic than we predicted!





Ethan ended up being my poolside buddy during most of our morning, but I'm not complaining about that. Truth be told, I didn't really care for the cold water either. ;)



This was the view from my lounge chair. Perfection.

    Precious photos as always. I particularly love the one of you holding Ethan, and the one of Sean holding Ethan too, now that is so sweet! From what I can tell, your bathing suit looked really cute! Where'd you find it?

    Also I noticed the blue bracelets everyone had on (Gracie made hers into an anklet!). Was that to celebrate something special?

    What a great way to spend Gracie's 4th birthday! Cute pedicure on her toes, and time with her family at the beach. How special!

    I'm going to echo Megan - where did you get that suit? From what I can see of it, it's just adorable (it looks kind of retro). You've got to spill where you found it :)

    LOVE the pic of Gracie sitting on the pool steps. She looks so comfortable in the water!

    The suit is from Tommy Bahama, and yes, it does have a retro feel! It's a tankini style, very flattering to curvy figures I think. :) I've never felt more comfortable in a bathing suit post babies. I even went to the outlet hoping to find one in another color (I found mine in January), but no such luck.

The end is near.

My husband is confident. He's determined, speaks his mind, and lives for a challenge. If you tell him something cannot be done, be prepared to be proven wrong. I rarely see him get nervous, for any reason... almost. My 38-week appointment was this morning. As usual, Sean and Gracie were with me, which I love. I was anxious to get to this appointment because I started having uncomfortable cramping yesterday evening, which then lasted through the night and even into the morning. I've experienced a few other "preliminary signs" of labor which have led me to believe that we're coming up on the end here. After talking with the doctor, he offered to check my progress and strip my membranes. This is when I got a little tickled, even as I was sitting on an exam table naked from the waist down, with nothing but a paper sheet wrapped around me. Hilton Head.

I was feeling heavy. Overwhelmed. Tired. The combination of sick children, sleep deprivation, and very little "me" time was starting to push me down a bit. I don't like feeling that way. I want to wake up with a smile on my face. I want to feel motivated and light . Our Hilton Head vacation arrived at the perfect time. Packing was a nightmare, but once our car hit the highway, I felt it... Freedom . It didn't matter that I was taking a sick child along, or that I was still going to be sleep deprived. Those things are easier to handle when you get a change in scenery, especially when that scenery becomes blue skies and an endless ocean. As we do each year in January, we joined Sean's dad and step-mom for a winter get-away. The weather was kind to us this year. Gracie loves the beach.
