Hilton Head 2013.

We returned home yesterday from our week in Hilton Head, South Carolina. We were blessed again (we go every year at this time) with decent weather, considering ours is the last week in January. I was more than ready for this vacation, especially since it was literally freezing at home, with ice covering the roads the morning we left.

We were welcomed by an amazingly beautiful ocean-front view. Our children didn't get the "we're sleeping in on this vacation" memo, but we did get to watch the sunrise over the ocean on more than one occasion, so it's tough to complain about that. They did finally both sleep in the morning we needed to be up and preparing to check out. Go figure.

Gracie absolutely adores the beach. She'd happily spend hours running and playing in the sand. Ethan is not as enthusiastic about the whole beach thing. He was much happier on any surface other than sand and hated having the ocean breeze in his face. As he gets older, I imagine he will be just like his daddy, preferring to spend his beach time on a golf course.

It was so nice to just get away for the week. We enjoyed eating at our favorite Hilton Head restaurant, The Black Marlin, and did a little outlet shopping. We also spent one day visiting the beautiful Savannah, Georgia and toured the historic district on a horse drawn carriage ride.(Ethan fell asleep, which was a good thing.) As usual, we took the kids to Sea Pines, where Gracie is always anxious to climb to the top of the Harbour Town Lighthouse. Sean and I look forward to kicking back for a moment in rocking chairs overlooking the Harbour Town Marina, with ice cream from the Cinnamon Bear Country Store. We've really created lots of traditions as we've vacationed in Hilton Head year after year. It's a special place.

We were sad to see the week come to an end, but all sadness faded when Ryan greeted us after the 6 hour drive home. He took care of our home and animals while we were away, which we appreciated so, so much! It was nice to spend time with him before he left for home this morning.

I have lots of pictures I hope to share soon!
