14 Months.

Ethan turned 14 months old on August 16th. I know I sound like a broken record, but we are seriously loving this age! Watching him learn to walk was one of the highlights of my life. I feel the same about Gracie's first steps, and so many other moments with my children that just keep reminding me to live in the present and enjoy these precious, precious blessings!

Ethan, you are a happy boy, and very active! You love to stay on the move. You've pretty much perfected walking and have quickly moved on to attempts at running. This new skill has been so much fun for both you and Gracie. She loves chasing you throughout the house, and I love hearing my children laughing together as they play. She still loves to tackle you, tickle you, and pin you to the ground, but these games are a lot more fun for you now that you can try to get her back!

The kids playing together one morning last week. They are just a blur!

Here's more about you at 14 months old:

-You now have three teeth that are completely in; your two front teeth on the bottom and one front tooth on top. We're still patiently waiting for that second top tooth to pop through. It has been causing you some discomfort.

-You love being outside! You literally scream when we try to bring you back in the house. You'd much rather wonder around the yard and explore.

-You enjoy playing with any type of ball, trucks/cars, and your riding toys. You are able to entertain yourself, which can be helpful when I'm trying to finish things around the house during the day.

-You're a great eater! You will eat most of what we offer you. Favorites include: crackers, cheerios, strawberries, yogurt, honeydew melon (a new favorite!), peaches, peas... You're also starting to eat some meats, which you refused previously. I would bet you almost eat as much as, if not more than, your sister. I would also bet that weight will not be an issue at your 15 month appointment. You are drinking lots of whole milk, and loving it, which brings me to another big transition for us...

-I just weaned you. :( This has been such a bittersweet time for me, but you've handled it well. You're even sleeping until 6am most mornings now and will almost always go back to sleep for another couple of hours before waking for the day. I will always be so thankful for our breastfeeding experience.

We love you, sweet boy!

  1. Big hugs on weaning!!!! I weaned C on Aug. 11th (so ironic - he was conceived that same date two years ago!!!) right before we left for Disney, and since we returned, I've been sooooooo tempted to let him nurse again. I know what you mean - bittersweet is the (im)perfect word.
