It's Almost Over.
In an effort to prolong that summer feeling, we spent yesterday evening at the pool. Getting there was an adventure, but once little toes found super cold water, all was well.
We had planned to meet Sean at the pool to maximize our time there (rather than waiting for him to drive home after work). Right before lugging pool bags and two children out the door, I sent Sean a quick text, asking if he'd grabbed his bathing suit along with his gym clothes that morning before leaving for work. I mistakenly assumed that he probably had ('cause he usually surprises me with what he remembers, while I tend to forget). Anyway, halfway to the pool, I quickly checked my phone and discovered he had not taken his trunks and needed me to bring them. Sigh. Instead of having me turn around, he offered to drive home to get them himself so that I could take the kids on to the pool. Okay, easy enough. Ethan was already fussing in his car seat, so this seemed like a good idea.
To make a long story shorter... We pulled into the gym parking lot at the same time that Sean called to say he had made it home, but had no way to get into the house... We forgot that his brother had his house key, since he helped us out with the animals while we were out of town. Boo. I bit my tongue, turned around, and headed home to save him. 5 o'clock traffic doubled the time it took us to get home, but we made it, grabbed Sean, and turned BACK around, determined to get our kids in the pool. We wasted a lot of time and gas, but in the end, we were happy to be together in one car, and my sweeties had fun. All's well that ends well.
Did I mention the water was cold?? Ethan kept walking around the edge of the pool, barely getting his feet wet (kind of like his momma...). Gracie, on the other hand, jumped right in, no adjustment period needed.
This girl knows how to enjoy an evening at the pool.
Happy Friday!

I'm glad you were still able to make it there after all that! The photo of Gracie floating with her eyes closed is so cute.
