Back to school!

Today, Gracie went back to school. She has officially started her last year of preschool, and I have a feeling that this will be a really great year for her. When I took her to her classroom this morning, she didn't hesitate to find her book bag hook and walk on in (after Mommy grabbed her for a good-bye hug!). I stepped away to speak to one of the other mothers, then took a moment to peek at her again before leaving. She was working on an activity, spotted me, then gave me a big smile and wave. I would be lying if I said I didn't get just a little lump in my throat as I walked to the car... Who is this big girl? She can't possibly be my little Gracie.

I am a proud mommy, on days like today, and every day. I imagine I will get that lump-in-the-throat feeling every time we start a new school year. These first days are such an indicator of how time is passing, and of how much my sweeties grow year to year.

First day of preschool, 2011

First day of preschool, 2012!

Her new book bag was packed and ready to go. She's thrilled that her best friend from last year is in her class again. It's going to be another year full of wonderful learning experiences.

Happy First Day, my sweet girl. Your mommy and daddy sure are proud of you.

  1. Ahh yes that lump in the throat. Mine's already started up and I have another week before Dawson starts back! I can't believe this is her last preschool year.

I love how big that backpack is on her!

I hope she loves her school year. That's great her best friend is in there, too, and she was able to just jump right in this year with no hesitations!
