I am blessed to have a current total of 8 nieces and nephews. Every one of them has a June, July, or August birthday! This doesn't even include my own children, who celebrate birthdays at the end of May and mid-June. We seem to celebrate someone's birthday almost every single weekend during the summer!

Last weekend was a double party weekend. Austin's was on Saturday, then on Sunday we celebrated Madison's 8th birthday and Drew's 2nd. It was a lot of fun having all of the nieces and nephews from Sean's side of the family in one place again! Madison is now 8, Taylor is 6, Gracie is 4, Drew is 2, Ethan is 1, and Braelynn is almost 2 months old. These kids are such blessings to the adults, but also to each other.

I love this picture of Gracie and Braelynn. I was on the other side of the room and saw Gracie approach Braelynn. She is so sweet and gentle with babies. Braelynn even has a little grin on her face.


Funfetti cupcakes for Madison, Chocolate for Drew! They were delicious!



Here's the birthday girl! She received a few classic Disney movies to add to her collection, including some of my own childhood favorites, Dumbo and Lady and the Tramp.


Drew and Ethan spent most of the time playing together. I can tell they will get into plenty of trouble together as they get older... They sure are cute, though. They even look a little bit alike, which I guess makes sense considering their fathers are brothers. :-)

    Happy 2nd Birthday to Drew, and (belated) 3rd to Austin! Also happy belated birthday to Madison. Wow, lots and lots of birthdays all at once! I don't see how you can keep up.

The end is near.

My husband is confident. He's determined, speaks his mind, and lives for a challenge. If you tell him something cannot be done, be prepared to be proven wrong. I rarely see him get nervous, for any reason... almost. My 38-week appointment was this morning. As usual, Sean and Gracie were with me, which I love. I was anxious to get to this appointment because I started having uncomfortable cramping yesterday evening, which then lasted through the night and even into the morning. I've experienced a few other "preliminary signs" of labor which have led me to believe that we're coming up on the end here. After talking with the doctor, he offered to check my progress and strip my membranes. This is when I got a little tickled, even as I was sitting on an exam table naked from the waist down, with nothing but a paper sheet wrapped around me. Hilton Head.

I was feeling heavy. Overwhelmed. Tired. The combination of sick children, sleep deprivation, and very little "me" time was starting to push me down a bit. I don't like feeling that way. I want to wake up with a smile on my face. I want to feel motivated and light . Our Hilton Head vacation arrived at the perfect time. Packing was a nightmare, but once our car hit the highway, I felt it... Freedom . It didn't matter that I was taking a sick child along, or that I was still going to be sleep deprived. Those things are easier to handle when you get a change in scenery, especially when that scenery becomes blue skies and an endless ocean. As we do each year in January, we joined Sean's dad and step-mom for a winter get-away. The weather was kind to us this year. Gracie loves the beach.
